Day 17 of Leading with God's Heart takes us into the home of Martha and Mary, where Jesus teaches a profound lesson about priorities. Drawing from Luke 10:40-42, Desiree Day explores the tension between doing and being, between serving and sitting at Jesus' feet.

Martha wasn't doing anything wrong—she was serving, working hard, being responsible. Everything she was doing needed to be done. But she was so busy with the preparations that she missed the presence. Jesus gently corrects her: "You are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better."

Holy priorities aren't about perfect productivity systems or time management techniques. They're about discernment—the wisdom to distinguish between good and best, urgent and important, others' expectations and God's invitations. In our culture that celebrates the busy badge of honor, this episode challenges us to choose what is better.

The shift action is practical: review your calendar and to-do list, identify one good thing you need to let go of to make space for the best thing, and make that change concretely. When we choose what is better, everything else finds its proper place.
