Day 29 of Leading with God's Heart zooms out to the big picture of your leadership. Drawing from Psalm 145:4 ("One generation commends your works to another"), Desiree Day explores how every leader leaves a legacy—the question isn't whether you'll leave one but what kind.

Legacy isn't just about what we accomplish but about what we set in motion—the values we embed, the people we develop, the impact that outlasts our direct involvement. It's about fruit that remains, seeds that keep growing, influence that continues long after we're gone.

In our immediate-results culture, legacy thinking is rare. We focus on this quarter's metrics, this year's goals, this season's outcomes. But kingdom leadership takes the long view, investing in what may not fully bloom until after we're gone. It plants trees we may never sit under.

This mindset affects everything. When thinking about legacy, you invest more in people than programs (because people carry on what you've instilled). You choose influence over recognition (because recognition is temporary but influence ripples through generations). You measure success not by immediate returns but by long-term impact.

The shift action guides you to write a brief legacy statement describing the lasting impact you hope your leadership will have, then evaluate one current decision through this legacy lens. When you start thinking generationally, your entire approach to leadership shifts—less reactive, more intentional; less about looking good, more about doing good.
